SSH and terminal access restricted on cPanel and home.snt 2026-05-15 14:31:00 (Europe/Amsterdam)

-- TL;DR; Because of a Linux kernel vulnerability that got discovered, SNT had to restrict ssh access for all customers and almost all active members. You can track this issue here. --

A new Linux kernel 0-day had just been released (https://github.com/0xdeadbeefnetwork/ssh-keysign-pwn/). There are no patches available as of writing in any distro of Linux or any kernel version. This meant that SNT had to restrict the Terminal/SSH access feature in cPanel and WHM as a safety measure. We will reenable this feature as soon as it seems safe to us to do so again.

We are closely monitoring the development of this 0-day and will notify you as soon as we know more here.

All websites and other services hosted by SNT will continue to function normally and securely. It does not seem that this 0-day has been exploited yet.

After completing the maintenance and monitoring the situation closely, we decided that it is safe again to enable the terminal feature in cPanel. This means that all services are restored to normal functionality. No data seems to have been lost or compromised.

Hornet, Pydio, and home.snt all received security patches as well. Therefore, Pydio and Hornet will also take part in the maintenance window scheduled tonight. I apologize for the inconvenience. We will monitor whether it is safe to turn terminal functionality back on in cPanel after the maintenance. You can find updates about this here.

The home.snt machine got rebooted as well, so active members may make use of that machine again.

cPanel received security patches, and will have short security maintenance today at 11:00 PM (Europe/Amsterdam). Afterwards, the SSH feature will be enabled if we think it is secure to do so.
